Poor old Vito

Thanks to Peter Donaldson for letting me use this great shot from the last event.
It's now less than 2 weeks to the next event at Santa Pod - the National Finals. It's gonna be a bit of a rush to get the bike back together, it's still completely apart and the engine cases are with Roger Upperton who is very kindly sorting out my spare set in time for me to get the whole thing back together. He also checked the crank over for any damage, but all is pretty much fine in that department.


Another much needed part arrived today, a new custom made smaller rear sprocket. I've been running pretty much to the limiter in 5th gear since changing to a 14tooth front sprocket, so this one will allow a further 6 -8 mph at the top end before hitting the limiter which is set at a fairly conservative 10,000 rpm.

Generally it's been non stop since returning from the last event at shakey, i spent a couple of evenings getting the engine out and apart, a whole day cleaning, prepping and painting my spare cases as i had to modify the webbing in the sump for shift fork removal. And Sam and i have been van hunting for about a week as her trusty Vito is looking a bit tired now and the MOT is imminent. We went all over the Northwest looking mostly at MK6 transits but found nothing but depressing load of crud crud. Only a day later we found one less than 5 miles away on the outskirts of Lancaster, it looked better than any of the others so she bought it. It's a 100ps T260 Short wheebase.
The poor Vito failed it's MOT as predicted but nothing too expensive to repair so I'm going to see if I can get it sorted and I'll keep it for myself and sell my car (Toyota Celica GT ... if anyones interested).

Next weekend will be all hands to the pumps to get the engine reassembled, back into the frame and new sprocket fitted.
