High Performance Motorcycles BMW HP2 Sport 2010
2010 BMW HP2 Sport
One reason for this performance is the DOHC cylinder head*, which is being used for the first time In the last 24-hour race at the Oschersleben Speedweek, both machines entered in the race finished in the overall top 10. The BMW HP2 Sport caused quite a stir with its race track appearances - rarely has a 2-cylinder flat twin bike caused the competition so much trouble, it even outdistanced many a 4-cylinder bike. With an incredible air/oil-cooled 133 bhp and 115 Nm - a unique performance for a serial production “Boxer”!
An exclusive sports machine by BMW Motorrad for motor racing connoisseurs and 2-cylinder enthusiasts which puts racing expertise into serial production - with power and authenticity. 100 per cent motor racing genes, licensed for the road. The result is the BMW HP2 Sport: the uncompromising realisation of the 24-Hour Endurance racer as a road machine. So it is an obvious step to build a high-end version! Outstanding race results are inexorably linked with BMW Motorrad’s flat twin “Boxer” models.
The HP2 Sport Motorsport Edition continues to be powered by the familiar flat twin engine equipped with double overhead camshafts delivering 133 hp at 8750 rpm, but emulating the look of the BMW Motorrad Motorsport factory racers, featuring fairing, fuel tank, seat bench, front mudguard and engine spoiler painted in the BMW Motorsport colours Alpine White, Lupine Blue metallic and Magma Red. The sportiest and most powerful series production flat twin of all time, the HP2 Sport continues into model year 2010 with the addition of a special Motorsport Edition.

Developing the RR, Other features absolutely essential more than ever particularly in the top league of supersports motorcycles are simple and straightforward rideability, lightfooted handling, absolutely outstanding all-round performance as well as safety features such as rider assistance systems like ABS and traction control giving the customer precisely what he needs. The essential factors, therefore, are supreme power, a wide range of engine speed, fast revving capacity also over a long period, optimum chassis stiffness, and perfect set-up of the engine. To successfully enter the World Championship with a Superbike today, a manufacturer needs a production model with the right kind of overall concept consistently applied in all areas.
Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport has been playing an active role in the World Superbike Championship since the beginning of the 2009 racing season, the new S 1000 RR setting the foundation for the production-based racing machines ridden by BMW Motorrad's two works riders Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus. Specifications of this calibre make this supersports machine not only an absolute highlight in terms of its power-to-weight ratio and performance, but also, equipped with Race ABS and DTC Dynamic Traction Control, a new benchmark in terms of riding dynamics, safety and innovation. This true milestone in the world of sports machines combines engine output of 142 kW (193 hp) with overall weight of just 204 kg (450 lb) including fuel (183 kg/403.5 lb dry weight, 206.5 kg/455.3 lb overall with Race ABS). The new BMW S 1000 RR is a highly innovative straight-four supersports from BMW Motorrad now making its world debut.
